Tehran, IRNA – The country’s liquidity, by the end of Khordad this year, exceeded 11 thousand and 58 trillion tomans, showing a 32.4% growth compared to Khordad last year.
The Central Bank announced the country’s liquidity for the end of Khordad this year, according to which this indicator reached the figure of 110 thousand and 588 thousand billion rials (more than 11 thousand trillion tomans), showing a 32.4% growth compared to the same month last year (Khordad 1403) and an 8.8% growth compared to the last month of the previous year (Esfand 1403).
2.6 thousand trillion tomans of the country’s liquidity are ‘money’ and 8.4 thousand trillion tomans are ‘quasi-money’; ‘money’ includes 191.4 trillion tomans of banknotes and coins in the hands of individuals and 2.4 thousand trillion tomans of demand deposits. Quasi-money also includes various types of current account (Gharz-ol-Hasaneh) and short-term and long-term bank deposits.
The liquidity multiplier at the end of Khordad 1404 was 2.1 compared to Khordad 1403, and 2.4 compared to Esfand 1403.
It is worth noting that ‘liquidity’ is the volume of money in circulation, which includes two components: the monetary base and the money multiplier. The monetary base, also known as ‘high-powered money,’ refers to the sum of currency in circulation plus banks’ reserves held at the central bank.
A portion of the key items included in the Central Bank’s report regarding the status of major monetary and credit variables in the country until the end of this Khordad are as follows:
The Central Bank’s net foreign assets amounted to 3.3 thousand trillion tomans, reflecting a 76% increase compared to June 2024
The Central Bank’s claims on the public sector amounted to 783 thousand billion tomans, showing a 63.1% increase compared to June 2024
Government sector deposits held with the Central Bank amounted to 885 thousand billion tomans, reflecting a 62.9% increase compared to June 2024
The Central Bank’s claims on banks amounted to 731.4 thousand billion tomans, with a 9.4% increase compared to June 2024
The total monetary base from sources and uses amounted to 2.8 thousand trillion tomans, reflecting a 29.6% increase compared to June 2024
The total outstanding loans and deposits of the government sector, including the government and state-owned enterprises, amounted to 989 thousand billion tomans, reflecting a 61.2% increase compared to June 2024
The debt of the non-governmental sector to banks and credit institutions (excluding future interest) amounted to 7.8 thousand trillion tomans, with a 31.7% increase compared to June 2024
Alright, here’s the translation of that whopper of a sentence:
The total deposits of the non-governmental sector with banks and credit institutions amounted to 10.8 thousand trillion tomans, showing a 32.4% increase compared to June 2024 (a figure close to the country’s total liquidity!)
“How much loans have banks given?”
And regarding the Central Bank report, the total outstanding credit granted by banks and credit institutions at the end of the current year was announced as 10.3 thousand trillion Tomans, showing a 19.5% growth compared to March 2025
2.8 thousand trillion Tomans of these were interest-free loans, 3.7 thousand trillion Tomans were Murabaha financing, and the rest were other types of Islamic contracts
