Sweden’s Minister of Finance, Elisabeth Svantesson, and the country’s government intend to halve the value-added tax on food. According to published reports, this reduction will be from 12% to 6% and will take effect from early April next year.
This decision will continue until January 1, 2028, and aims to reduce living costs for citizens. This measure is being taken to support households against rising prices and inflation.
The proposal to reduce VAT will be presented by the Tidö parties soon. This decision could help increase people’s purchasing power and improve the country’s economic situation.
