Several Swedish haulage companies that have invested in electrifying their vehicle fleets are forced to wait for the delivery of electric trucks from Scania. The reason is the bankruptcy of battery manufacturer Northvolt.
Long delivery times have been a problem for buyers of electric trucks in recent years. However, Northvolt’s bankruptcy has put further obstacles in the way for truck giant Scania, and several customers who have signed contracts to purchase electric trucks have had their deliveries postponed until next year.
The delays are due to Northvolt’s production problems and subsequent bankruptcy, which have affected the availability of batteries for Scania’s electric trucks. The truck giant was the last customer to buy from the bankrupt battery manufacturer, whose factory has now been sold to American battery startup Lyten.
